At Tectónica Design, we have always believed that stone is more than just a building material; it is territory, memory, and heritage. Our latest project, Domestic Monuments, represents a pivotal moment in our evolution from a heritage stone producer to a global cultural design brand.
Created in collaboration with the award-winning studio Puntofilipino and its creative director Gema Gutiérrez, this collection is a "mineral manifesto" that brings the grandeur of the monumental into the intimacy of the home.
The Concept: From Architecture to Domesticity
The collection was born from a creative tension: how to make the monumental domestic and how to lighten a material that has historically been defined by mass.
By working with our signature Macael White Marble, we have developed a system of "structural intelligence". Through precise internal carving and controlled thicknesses, we have optimized the material's mass without emptying its profound symbolic meaning. The result is a series of pieces where lightness is not an absence of weight, but a triumph of precision.
Spotlight: The DM-M01 Side Table
The cornerstone of this series is the DM-M01 Side Table.
Design Philosophy Conceived as a functional sculpture, it acts as an architectural gesture that invites contemplation.
Materiality Carved in Macael marble, its surfaces are orchestrated to interact with light just as a building does—where shadows become structural extensions and reflections tell a story.
The Experience It is a collectible object that blurs the line between artifact and utility, providing a sense of permanence in a world of disposable trends.
Designing for the Senses: A Neuroarchitectural Approach
In collaboration with Puntofilipino, we have integrated principles of neuroarchitecture to ensure that these pieces do more than just occupy space; they regulate perception.
Cognitive Stability The homogeneous white mineral surfaces reduce "visual noise," allowing the brain to process the environment more fluidly.
Thermal Comfort The natural coolness of the stone activates a perception of solidity and security.
Acoustic Harmony The density of our marble attenuates vibrations, contributing to a quieter, more balanced atmosphere within the home.
